In response to Fire Prevention and Fighting Month (October) and National Fire Prevention and Fighting Day (October 4), Phuoc Thanh Construction Joint Stock Company partnered with Fire Police and Rescue Unit Area 1 to conduct a fire prevention, firefighting, and search and rescue (PCCC & CNCH) drill at its headquarters.
Objectives and Simulated Scenario
The drill aimed to strengthen employees’ awareness and practical skills in responding to fire and explosion emergencies, while ensuring full compliance with fire safety regulations in the workplace.
Under the simulated scenario, at 10:00 a.m. on October 18, an electrical short circuit broke out on the second floor of the office building, sending smoke and toxic fumes spreading rapidly and posing an immediate threat to everyone inside. The moment the automatic fire alarm triggered, Phuoc Thanh’s in-house response team moved swiftly through the following steps:
- Cut off power to the affected area;
- Deploy on-site firefighting equipment to contain the initial blaze;
- Guide all staff to evacuate safely;
- Call the emergency hotline 114 to request professional support.
The Area 1 Fire Police and Rescue Unit arrived promptly, working alongside the in-house team to extinguish the fire, carry out search and rescue operations, and conduct a full headcount to confirm that everyone was safe and accounted for.
Drill Highlights
Key highlights included a simulated second-floor fire outbreak, an organized evacuation, and the rescue of an injured staff member who had fallen while evacuating. The drill also showcased coordinated suppression efforts between the internal response team and professional fire police, before closing with a debrief session.
